Who

My name is Kate. I am a school librarian and high school English teacher in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. I used to be a public radio journalist.

In my free time, I dabble in watercolors, read books in fits and starts, run 5Ks, and watch people organize stuff on YouTube.

I am Filipino-Chinese-American. I am married to Paul and we have two daughters, Anna and Lucy.

Why

Why a newsletter:

I have blogged for years (since October 2002!!), but I’m ready for a change. My hope is this newsletter will

• help me process what I’m thinking and learning

• help me stay in touch with friends (and former students!)

• serve as a repository for things I’m into

Why kate in the shade?

I don’t really know, but sometimes I feel shady, I don’t like being in direct sun, I like (gently) making fun of things, and my name is Kate.
